May 18-19: Sacred Sites Open House and A Celebration of Arts at Old First

The Bilger Family Band at the First Annual Brooklyn Bluegrass Bash, September 2012, at The Bell House.

Join us Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19 as we participate in the New York Landmarks Conservancy Sacred Sites Open House and celebrate the reopening of our sanctuary with A Celebration of Arts at Old First.

On Saturday, May 18, our sanctuary doors will be open from 10am to 5pm for the New York Landmarks Conservancy Sacred Sites Open House. We’ll welcome those touring sacred sites across the city as well as passersby, and have materials with historic and architectural information for self-guided tours, and volunteers to welcome guests and answer questions about Old First. Please stop by and consider volunteering – it’s a fun event and a wonderful opportunity to showcase our restored sanctuary.

Then on Sunday, May 19, we’ll host A Celebration of Arts at Old First from 3pm to 6pm, a free community-wide concert celebrating the reopening of our historic sanctuary and honoring our long-standing commitment to artists and the arts. Featuring classical, bluegrass and jazz as well as dance, spoken word and musical theater, including Michael Daves, Rick Moody, The String Orchestra of Brooklyn, The Bilger Family Band, Jeffrey Mandelbaum (Baroquelyn), Emma Maier, Saint Francis Xavier Choir, Whitebird Productions, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Brooklyn Youth Orchestra, Brooklyn Community Chorus, Stone House Singers and more!
