As part of our mission of hospitality and sanctuary, we host holiday, cultural, and interfaith services for congregants and community members alike, often in collaboration with neighboring congregations in Park Slope.
This has included days of reflection and remembrance for September 11, an annual interfaith Martin Luther King Day service, and a historic “Dutch Days” service as part of the NYC 5 Dutch Days 5 Boroughs festival, which marks the influence of Dutch arts and culture in New York.
Each Christmas Eve, Old First is filled with congregants and community alike for our annual Candlelight Christmas Eve service service, which features organ and brass, soloists, and Christmas carols. In addition, we host a Christmas Pageant each December which is open to all children who wish to participate.
During Holy Week, we host Dzieki Theatre on Maundy Thursday; an annual Bluegrass Good Friday Service, together with neighboring churches; a Saturday evening Easter vigil; an Easter breakfast followed by a service featuring special musical guests; and an Easter Egg Hunt following the service.
All services at Old First are open to the public and we welcome you to join us.
