Consecration Sunday

Join us for virtual service this Sunday, November 8th, at 11 AM for Consecration Sunday.

This Sunday, we are blessed to be hearing from Reverend David F. Telfort, pastor of the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church. A native of Brooklyn, Reverend Telfort is passionate about serving both in a local church and in the public sphere through community organizing.

Please have ready your bowl with water, a cloth, your candle, your bread, and your cup of wine or juice for communion.

We ask you to RSVP for the luncheon, so that you may order meals. You may RSVP here, while information to join the service is below:

Afterwards, we will celebrate with a special “remote” luncheon and social hour including musical entertainment with our very own Michael Daves and the Bilger family. There will be breakout rooms and other ways to socialize on Sunday.

Andy Wandzilak and Chef Kate O’Donnell from our Relief Kitchen are preparing two versions of their delicious chili, one beef and one vegetarian, along with corn bread and a special baked goodie that can be picked up or delivered to your door (details provided in invite).

Remember to pick up your prepared meals on Saturday, Nov 7 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. unless you made a request for delivery. Even if you missed the RSVP deadline, you can still pick up a meal at the church during this time (extras will be prepared).

For our diaspora Old First members, you will be emailed the recipe for the chilis to prepare at home if you wish to try them.

The Zoom Link for Luncheon can be found here.

Finally, a word about the annual pledge. Everyone is invited to make a financial commitment to Old First on Consecration Sunday. These have been trying times, but donations to Old First have not diminished. If anything, they’ve gone up, and we thank you! Nevertheless, the rental income for Old First has been greatly diminished due to the pandemic, so when deciding on an amount, please consider pledging a little extra if you are able. Of course, any amount is greatly appreciated. Please send your pledge this week for your 2021 financial commitment to Old First, using one of these three options:

Everyone is welcome to take part in the luncheon, whether you are able to pledge or not— so be sure to request enough food for all your family. The more the merrier!  We hope you’ll join us to enjoy the food, the song, and the company.Yours in Christ,
Deacons of Old First Reformed Church
