Reopening!
The Consistory of Old First Reformed Church is thrilled to announce that we will meet in person for Sunday morning worship on the first Sunday of Advent, November 28, 2021!
We will continue to offer virtual worship service via a video stream of the service, so those who are not able to meet in person for any reason may still experience and participate in the service.
As we have consulted with other churches and church leaders, some of whom have been offering hybrid services (both in person and virtual) for some time, one learning is consistent: re-opening church is not an event, it is a process. We are going to try different things, learn and improve over time. Our current guidelines and expectations for in-person worship can be found below. We invite you to reach out to info@oldfirstbrooklyn.org with any questions now, or at any point in the process.
We look forward to share the joy of meeting together with you as we begin the season of Advent, and to moving forward with the ongoing journey of reopening together.
Guidelines for Reopening
Beginning in Advent, Sunday morning services will begin at 11:00 AM in the Lower Hall (Fellowship Hall). Attendees will enter through the Carroll Street entrance. Windows in the Lower Hall will be left open to facilitate air circulation, so dress warmly!
Vaccination is required to attend for all who are eligible (children under 12 may attend even if they have not had time to receive full vaccinations). We will ask that those who plan to attend register in advance so that we can have a sense of attendance, as capacity in the hall is limited; look for a registration link via email in the coming weeks.
Masks will be worn at all times when in the building, with some exceptions for speakers. Chairs will be placed to facilitate social distancing (though family groups may sit together).
Access to the video stream will be available via a Zoom link similar to virtual services thus far; a login link will be provided before the service.
Additional details are still being determined by the Elders and the Reopening Committee. Please stay tuned for news and updates as we approach November 28 and going forward. Feel free to email info@oldfirstbrooklyn.org with any specific questions.
