Reimagining Indigenous Relations & Reparations 1/26
— @ Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Square South, Manhattan from 4:30-6:00 pm Sunday 26 January — All are invited to this special 1-hour event, hosted by Middle Church, Judson Church, and Old First Reformed Church, Brooklyn, where Anthony Trujillo (Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo), a PhD student in American Studies at Harvard University, will share some of his work over the past year as the Middle Reparations Task Force’s Indigenous History Consultant. The goal of this event is three fold: to address some of the common misperceptions, oversights and pitfalls regarding Indigenous communities and histories; to reframe conversations about reparations around contemporary Indigenous perspectives and concerns; and to share with and learn from sibling faith communities who have also made a commitment to engaging in the challenging but vital work of repairing relations with New York City’s Indigenous communities.
